Annual Conference
Call for ProgramsProgram SubmissionMany of you have expressed interest in being part of the MGCA conference faculty, and this is your chance!
The On-Line Call for Programs may be found here:
If you would like to be a pathway or hot topic facilitator, please read the attached information and develop a proposal (or two or three!). The on-line Call for Programs must be completed by October 12, 2007. If you have a great idea, but would like a co-facilitator, please send in your proposal, and we’ll attempt to locate a partner for you. Ideally, each pathway will have a male and female facilitator, preferably a Greek advisor and a national/international staff member or volunteer officer. This helps us to model a working relationship, and it also insures a more comprehensive perspective on the issues. However, this combination of resource people is not mandatory. Pathway InformationWhen students, advisors, and national staff/officers attend the conference, they will select a pathway and become part of that group for the entire conference (pathways consist of two extended educational sessions). We anticipate that each pathway will have approximately 100 members. Please work to keep these sessions very imformative and educationally focused on the topic being presented; team-building exercises should only be a very small part of the activities. Hot Topic InformationThe other opportunity for involvement is to serve as a hot topic facilitator. The various blocks of hot topics will allow delegates to experience a broader spectrum of programming. Hot topics typcially consist of one educational session, but accomodations have been made for more in depth topics. Please consider submitting hot topic proposals by following our on-line Call for Programs. Faculty Information
We will notify selected faculty members of their assignments by November 7, 2007. This will give you time in which to prepare AND to figure out handouts and final AV requests which are due on December 12, 2007. Audio Visual RequestsAudio Visual costs can easily sky-rocket. The costs of simple flip charts and easels can add up quickly. Please consider carefully what AV you will actually use for your session and consider the impact of utilizing AV before requesting it. We have a very limited number of LCD projectors available to our presenters that will be available on a first come/first serve basis. If you have the ability, please consider traveling with your own LCD. If you would like items like mp3 players, portable stereos, etc. you will need to bring your own. Make sure to indicate if you are bringing your own LCD so we can attempt to place all of those sessions in rooms with an LCD cart and a screen. Thank you for helping us keep conference registration costs at a reasonable rate by helping us control AV costs! Additional InformationPlease give consideration to presenting proposals–we need your expertise, and you’ll have a great time in the process! Questions? Feel free to contact Jackie G. Isaacson, Director of Educational Programs at programs@mgca.org. |
