2008 Order of Omega Case Study Program

This is the fourth year of the Order of Omega Case Study Competition at the Mid-American Greek Council Association. We are proud to announce that the National Order of Omega has increased their monetary donation this year in order for more teams to participate.  In the past only 8 teams have been chosen, for 2008 we are excited to offer this opportunity to 16 teams.

The purpose of the Case Study Competition is to provide an educational learning experience for those undergraduate members of fraternities or sororities as well as fraternity/sorority professionals.

The Case Study Competition will take place on Saturday February 23, 2007

  • Teams of two (a Greek Life Professional or Graduate Student and/one undergraduate council officer).
  • Sixteen (16) teams will be working on one case study to be presented to a team of three (3) judges. There will be a "Team A" consisting of 8 teams and a "Team B" consisting of 8 teams.
  • All teams must sign up at the MGCA Registration Desk before Friday February 22, 2008 at 8:30 a.m.
  • All teams selected to be participants in the case study need to be present at the Order of Omega Case Study Competition introduction meeting that will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. in a location to be announced.
  • Each team will have fifteen (15) minutes to present their Case Study and five (5) minutes to answer any questions from the judges.  Presentations will take place between 1:45 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in a location to be announced.
  • There will be three places awarded within "Team A" and three places awarded within "Team B" presented at the Closing Recognition Banquet, 1st place will receive $250, 2nd place $150, 3rd place $100.

2008 Ask the Expert Program

This is the fourth year for the "Ask the Expert Program" at the Mid-American Greek Council Association.  This program has been designed as an additional resource for councils who may be working through a difficult situation/issue and would like a consultation with an experienced Greek Life Professional and/or a Headquarters Staff Member.

"Ask the Expert Program" will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in a location to be announced.

  • Councils are asked to sign up for a thirty (30) minute consultation when they check in at the MGCA Registration Desk.
  • Each council may choose their time.  "Experts" will be assigned to them as a resource.
  • The councils will need to come to the 2nd floor lobby area at their designated time slot to meet with their "experts."
  • This program was designed as a resource and not to minimize the impact of their own Greek Advisor, but to provide additional thoughts or techniques to help the council.

Any questions on the "Ask the Expert" program should be directed to Jennifer Jones-Hall, Assistant Dean of Students for Greek Life and New Student Orientation, Valparaiso University at 219-464-5413 or via email at Jennifer.Joneshall@valpo.edu.
